Where do I want to live?

I often think about the question of where I want to live when I am an adult and am financially stable enough to have a house. I know that for this year, I will continue living in Hong Kong. If I didn’t live in Hong Kong, I would want to be living in Shanghai. It became home for me as of last year. The city of Shanghai is so alive, diverse, and breathtaking.

I used to go cycling alongside the river, see the water glistening in the sunlight, smell the flowers, and live in the beauty that Shanghai had to offer me. I went cycling with my sisters, and they made it all the more memorable. We would laugh at silly things we said or did, and be in awe together of this perfect paradise that we got to call “home”.

When I think about Shanghai, I am flooded with memories of sights, smells, foods that I ate, and the culture that I got to immerse myself in.

Though I was only there for a year, I learned so much in that time of my life. Shanghai was such a good place for me and my family, we grew closer through the experience of living there. Shanghai made such an impact on my families life and my life. And I will never forget the memories I made there and the feeling of home that I received from living in Shanghai.

  1. I really enjoyed getting to know more about you through this short essay. I never would have thought that you would choose someplace in Asia, I thought that you would choose your hometown or somewhere in the US. It is very interesting to see what you have learned in Shanghai and the personal connections that you have made there. It was nice to see personal photos of you and your friends throughout your website, which made it more personal and different.
